subject: Toyota Offering Etios Liva To Buyers Facing Long Waiting List [print this page] IN THE view of skyrocketing demand for its Etios sedan in the Indian market, Toyota India has come-up with a unique offering for those who are in a long queue of Etios prospective buyers. The company has given them an option of shifting their booking towards its upcoming hatchback version of Etios which will be launched in the country in April 2011.
In addition to this, the company is also eying to enhance the production of Etios sedan marginally, so that the mounting waiting period of the car can be brought down. The new offering can be seen an effort by the Japanese auto giant to keep the customers in its own fold along with cutting down the waiting period for their new car.
As per the industry sources, the company fears that rising demand for its cars may prompt its prospective customers to shift towards easily available sedan models of the other brands. Thus, the company has worked-out a new strategy of giving customers with Etios bookings an option to go for the compact Liva.
The Etios Liva model is slated to be launched in the Indian market in April and the company will announce the pricing details of the car after the announcement of the Union budget by the Central government in February end or starting week of March. The Etios model will come powered by a 1.2L petrol engine and is likely to be shelved in the price segment of sub four lakh rupees. The Liva hatchback will be competing with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Grande Punto and Chevrolet Beat.
The company had started deliveries of Etios in India earlier this month, which has been a runaway success for the company as so far it has received bookings over 18,500 units of Etios model.
