Online Social Networks

Social networks in the sense of technology are network communities and Web services to the network host communities. In the case of networks, where users create their own content, together with (user-generated content), is referred to these as social media.

Internet social networks have earned their place in a dizzying become promising business for companies, artists, trademarks, freelance and especially in places for human encounters.

To understand a little hasty growing phenomenon in principle include a basic definition that allows us to understand that it is a social network, how the Internet and some knowledge about its history.

A little history

Around 2001 and 2002 come the first sites that promote social networking. By 2003 become popular with the advent of sites such as Friendster, Tribe and Myspace.

Quickly some companies entering social networks. Google launches in January 2004 Orkut support an experiment that one of its employees performing in his spare time. In 2005 he joined Yahoo 360 and others.

Basically the operation begins when after mounting the support, a group of initiators invite friends and acquaintances to join the network, each new member can bring many new members and growth of this network can be geometric.

And here it becomes an interesting business. I think a good example of this is Facebook, a social network aimed at students, much like myspace, with millions of registered users and where there has been significant investment in advertising from Microsoft.

There was a rumor that this network could be acquired by Yahoo in a value of no less than one billion dollars. Another is del.icio.us which has now reached the figure of a million users.

Of course, not everything is good fortune for social networks, as they were becoming good business, there was interest and therefore runs a risk, at least in its free operating philosophy.
