Anything that makes the public more aware of danger or dangerous practices is a good thing. Some may think safety stickers are not really necessary, but many people have been jolted into an awareness of danger simply be seeing a safety sticker. It might not be about something they did not know, but their attention was distracted for some reason and they were just not thinking about danger.
But it only takes one glimpse of a well-known symbol such as a red x to make people remember where they are and what they are doing. Such safety stickers can be placed in any number of places. They may be warning decals stuck to hard hats, warning stickers on electrical goods or even road safety stickers in schools. Wherever they are placed warning stickers are symbols that most people recognise and take note of.
In a world that seems to be increasingly dangerous due to a larger population, increasing traffic, newer technologies and faster speed, warning stickers do a great job of helping to save lives. Children particularly may rush into danger by thoughtless actions, but if they see a warning sticker, they will know to be more careful.
Warning stickers are highly visible because they are visual. Most are designed with bright colours that are easily seen. The symbols on them vary from geometric patterns to line drawings and brief text and are simple enough even for those who cannot read to understand. They can be made from reflective tape, glow-in-the-dark paint, magnets, stick-on fabric or any number of things that help them to stay where they will be seen and be visible to those for whom they are intended.
Such symbols become widely known through repetition and teaching until everyone understands them. They can also be used to make children and others who must ride or walk in the dark, visible to traffic, making their journey a much safer one.
