Children particularly may rush into danger by thoughtless actions, but if they see a warning sticker, they will know to be more careful.
Warning stickers are highly visible because they are visual. Most are designed with bright colours that are easily seen. The symbols on them vary from geometric patterns to line drawings and brief text and are simple enough even for those who cannot read to understand. They can be made from reflective tape, glow-in-the-dark paint, magnets, stick-on fabric or any number of things that help them to stay where they will be seen and be visible to those for whom they are intended.
Such symbols become widely known through repetition and teaching until everyone understands them. They can also be used to make children and others who must ride or walk in the dark, visible to traffic, making their journey a much safer one.
