7 Ways to Excel In Network Marketing
7 Ways to Excel In Network Marketing

1. Join or partner with a company that offers a product or service you are truly interested in. Just like any other type of sales, if you don't consume, use or believe in the product yourself it is going to be difficult to sell it. People want to know how you feel about the product. They want to know your testimonial before they open themselves up to try it themselves.

2. Learn about the product or service. Go beyond what is in the company brochure or what is on the website. If you are selling a product that promises a certain benefit you want to know what makes that benefit significant. You should be able to tell your prospect why they will be rewarded by the benefit or feature of the product.

3. Establish a rapport with network marketing leaders that you respect and would like to emulate. The goal is to have expert marketers that you can go to for proven advice. If your goal is to be successful you must learn to do what successful people do. Pay attention to how they word their offers. Of course you want to be yourself but it doesn't mean you can't try to learn new ways to pitch your offer or more effective ways of connecting to prospects.

4. Keep track of your performance. The old business adage is "What gets measured gets done". This is not to say that you waste time checking numbers on things that are not related to making money such as how many comments your blog got. You want to focus on money making activities. Like number of business follow ups you did or which ads are getting a better response from opportunity seekers.

5. Plan out your follow ups. You want to know that when you pick up the phone or sit down to email the prospect you will have time to complete the task. Prospects tend to get distracted or even turned off when they are taking the time to talk with a marketer and there is a lot of noise or loud talking in the background of the call. If you are doing your follow ups by phone, be sure there won't be any distractions that will make the call any more challenging than it needs to be. Try to have a mental concept of how you want the call to go. Remember to always speak from a position of confidence - you are the product expert whether you ever sold anything or not.

6. Market your business. Going person to person or chasing your friends and family could get you a few sales but it is not a good way to build a solid foundation for your business. You have to search for ways to advertise and promote your business effectively. Search Google, Yahoo, YouTube for effective marketing tips. Whether you decide on emails, videos, writing, pay-per-click or something else you should try to focus on one form of marketing until you have mastered it.

You don't want to try everything all at once because, again, you could make things more difficult that they need to be. If you try too many types of marketing at one time it may take you a while to figure out what works and what doesn't and worst of all you could become discouraged about promoting you business altogether. I recommend you start of using free advertising resources to build your skills. Try things like placing free ads, writing press releases, social network groups, free video sites or blogging.

7. Last but not least practice your posture. Meaning practice the position of leadership you hold. As mentioned earlier you need to always project yourself to prospects confident in yourself and your business opportunity. You are the sales expert and you should always feel as if you are in control. Understanding your products and compensation plan is great but does it really matter to the prospect if you don't seem like someone they would like to be in business with?

Leadership isn't always about how much you are earning, it is about help the people who are willing to join with you.

Whether they know it or not, in the beginning people want to join with you not your company. However you choose to present yourself and your personal brand it should says that you are of value to your prospect. You are able to help them in a way that is worthwhile for them to unite with you and your business opportunity. Remember your past success and testimonials are essential trust building tools so always let them speak for you.

There you go 7 simple ways to excel at network marketing. Please don't think that this is all there is to network marketing. I just wanted to expose you to a few concepts that seem to be consistent when you look at what successful network marketers are doing.

My last bit of advice is to read as much as you can about the business of marketing. Pay attention to what the industry leaders are doing. Subscribe to their blogs and check out their websites every once in a while. You'll be surprised by all the things you can learn for free.

Also attend network marketing conventions whenever you get the opportunity. Sometimes the people you meet and speak to at industry events share strategies that you can implement and use push your business to the next level.

Best wishes to you and your business opportunity.
