subject: Bodyweight Training - Why You Need To Do This [print this page] Many people are scared about getting into great shape specifically because people assume they have to to pay for a high quality fitness center membership or learn complicated workouts with weights. But the fact is you DONT need weights, or a gym membership, or anything at all in order to grow into huge shape. All you need is your body!
Pull Ups is one of my favorite bodyweight exercise
With that being said, i'll provide you 5 reasons why you need to be doing bodyweight exercises:
1. Theyre safer. Newcomers are at risk of injuring themselves with weights because they havent yet gotten proper form down perfectly. Thats why people are new to weights are told to start with very light weight or no weight at all as they master form first. With bodyweight exercises - form is usually very easy to get down and because youre only pushing your own bodyweight, there is less risk for injury. That means that you can push yourself harder for better benefits with less risk of injury.
2. Theyre free. Unlike buying a gym membership or using fancy equipment, doing bodyweight exercises is completely free. Not only can you get in amazing shape - but you can do so without spending a dime.
3. You can adjust the difficulty. The great thing about bodyweight exercises is its easy to adjust the difficulty. Are you a beginner? Then do knee pushups. Are you advanced? Then try one armed pushups. The sky is the limit with the range of difficulty, as long as you use some creativity and leverage your bodyweight.
4. Theyre effective. Theres a reason that burpees, a bodyweight exercises tops my list of exercises to lose weight with. Bodyweight exercises have been proven effective for years, and its no coincidence that even people who never leave the weight room feel the need to incorporate bodyweight exercises into their routine.
Pushups are another great bodyweight exercise.
5. Theyre fun. With bodyweight exercises, you can get creative. There are tons of different routines and exercise types that you can add to keep your workout from getting dull. In some ways you could consider entire martial arts training and yoga forms of bodyweight exercises.
