subject: Ways To Prevent A Broken Computer [print this page]

A broken computer does not always equal an injured computer. To me, this means that just because your computer has seen better days does not mean it cannot see them again. It also does not necessarily mean it will cost you any money, though it might.

Viruses, adware, spyware and 'botnets' all result in a host computer behaving strangely. Low air pressure, low coolant and bad gas all force strange behavior in cars. Most people would fret themselves silly until they saw a mechanic for the car's benefit and their own peace of mind. Computer glitches should also warrant such fret.

Background programs really slow down your computer's performance. They accomplish this by using up your computer's resources. Resources are the combined power of your processor (brain), memory, and disk space. These 3 are the equivalent to horsepower.

Keep your computer clean! It is good to blow out the fans and grills on any computer about once a month. Less built up dust means better airflow through the computer, and a more reliable, cooler running system! If your computer has an air filter, this should also be cleaned or changed monthly.

Do not use piratical software because there must be a mass of viruses. They should be blamed for main hindrance to increase computer performance. Once you use them, it can recompose your system automatically and maliciously and lead to freezing up when system is working.

Windows has a few system tools to help you fix a slow computer and get it in tip top shape. One is the Disk Cleanup that will help free up wasted disk space, and the other is the Disk Defragmenter which makes the computer read and access files faster. Do these two regularly and you won't need to fix a slow computer.

You see, your computer doesn't know which registry files are broken and which are okay, meaning that it will just try and read them until it can understand what they say. In most cases, this just slows your system down because it takes your PC longer to read the files, but in some cases, the registry files can be so corrupted that they will prevent your computer from being able to load them at all, causing errors or even crashes.

Step number one to fix a Wii controller is extremely simple and obvious, but often overlooked too. You need to try new batteries in your Wii controller before you can claim that it is broken. Dead or dying batteries will completely prevent your Wiimote (or any other form of controller) from functioning properly. Use the highest quality batteries possible as you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to batteries.
