Acer general channel sales manager, Greg Mikaelian, has left the vendor after 13 years.
Acer marketing manager, Robin Tang, said he couldn't comment on Mikaelian's future plans, but a new appointment had already been made(acer battery).
Anthony Vita has stepped into the role. Melbourne-based Vita was previously a business development manager for the vendor.
"There was a handing over period and it's effective as of this week," Tang said. "Essentially the business remains a very important part for Acer today and certainly with new blood we look for new opportunities and growth areas."
Tang said Acer was planning to put a new partner program in place. Called Program 25, it will primarily focus on the vendor's top VARs. Acer has about 80 VARs taking part in its accredited program hardware(acer laptop battery).
"It's a different tiered structure, they'll be getting additional support and marketing needs," he said. "Anthony will be responsible for taking it to the market."
Tang said the SMB was its key focus market this year.
"That's where the growth opportunity is and we're looking at really expanding the channel distribution for Acer," he said. "We tracked very well in the retail space this year, so the next phase of growth is SMB."
