Adam is the one slowly falling for the sex partner, becoming more and more clingy with his antics. Fans of Portman might wonder what she is doing in a light romantic comedy as a character actress who pulls of challenging performances since her childhood, but it might be the exact reason she has chosen this project. After all, widening the range is always appealing for a serious actor who explores new things and roles in her career.
Ashton Kutcher is typical romantic comedy lead man and since he has done it hundreds of times before, there are no surprises that he is very good in his role. Their chemistry is charming and the film starts on full throttle with the laughs. While the characters discover things within, the laughs naturally cease but they are there nevertheless. The supporting characters add to the fun of the experience. Especially Kevin Kline, who is portraying Adams celebrity, playboy and pot smoking father, steals his scenes and provides some of the best lines in the film.
