A long time lover of sexy lingerie, Eva Samphrie argues that it is the

January 14th, 2011 - I have always loved lingerie, in fact I made a career

out of it. These pieces of lingerie which women in Britain have been

slipping into for a very long time are metaphors of power. Or, at least that

is how they regarded. Rarely does a woman who finds some sexy lingerie that

fits her well, not feel powerful, in control and sexy. This is all fine and

good; however I believe that what lingerie really does for women is create

intimacy.

I have been researching women's lingerie for years. I've been in many focus

groups, conducted research on sexy lingerie and what women feel about it.

I've asked boyfriends, who have walked in on their other half bearing

nothing but a leopard print piece of lingerie, and asked them their

thoughts.

It is common in our sexually driven society to think lingerie is just a tool

used to get to the task of sex. We buy lingerie to feel sexier. This is

fine.

We can never underestimate the importance of intimacy though. For men as

well as women this is important. Intimacy creates connection. I believe that

when we have intimate moments this leads to passionate endeavours with our

partners.

Women's lingerie creates intimacy and this is why I believe it is so widely

popular, rather than just used to create instantly sexy moments. When we

feel intimate with our partners we feel comfortable, we are open to try new

things; we are relaxed.

Rather than sexy lingerie making women feel that they transform into another

person, an alter ego maybe, I believe it makes you more connected. Your

boyfriend appreciates you in your devastatingly powerful lingerie, you are

enticed by his reaction. The chemistry is electrifying.

So if anything, rather than sexy pieces of lingerie making one feel

powerful, it brings forth an intimate moment that you can share with your

loved one.

The change in the market.

Plus sized lingerie has made a staggering impact in the lingerie market over

the years. I feel that this has come too late. In our size zero society,

were looking like a pencil is the accepted norm, actual normality is called:

plus size. I would much prefer to scrap this name and instead just

incorporate plus size lingerie into everyday sexy lingerie.

As a 'plus size' girl, and working in this industry I understand where the

company is coming from.

Nevertheless, the choice of plus size lingerie on today's market is

fabulous. Lingerie sites such as sexysexylingerie.co.uk are actually using

plus size models to represent the plus size ranger; instead of a Kate Moss

lookalikes.

Plus size models are really represented well and show that lingerie is for

all women, of all ages and all body types.

In less than a month, Valentines day descends upon us. This is a time when

women up and down the country seek out sexy lingerie. And so they should.

For me though, it's the intimate moments that wearing sexy lingerie creates

which makes the experience memorable.
