1) Go online and find a sample credit repair letter.
You'll find no shortage of good ones available online. Just choose one you like and then copy and paste it into a Word document. You can use it to create all your credit repair letters. Be sure make a copy for each item you want to dispute (but they can all be made from the same sample credit letter.)
2) Tailor the credit dispute letter to each account you are disputing.
Simply replace the generic letter's account info with the actual account info from the accounts you are disputing. If you have any additional documentation proving the account is in error, include that too (but that is not strictly necessary).
3) Switch up the font from letter to letter.
Credit reporting agencies "image" all the credit dispute letters they get so they can compare them against each other. They'll consider a letter "junk mail" if they see it too many times. Simply altering the font from one letter to the next will help set your letters apart from the rest.
4) Switch some of the wording here and there.
Though not completely necessary, changing some of the credit repair letter's wording can help can help further distinguish your credit repair letters from the thousands of others made off the same template. Note, thousands of other people are probably using the same or a similar credit repair letter sample as you. Changing some of the wording, and maybe even throwing in a typo or grammar error here and there, can help set yours apart and let the reader know that this is a real person writing this letter.
5) Make separate copies of each credit repair letter for each credit bureau you're sending it to.
Send a separate copy of each dispute letter to all the credit bureaus that account is reporting through. This means you'll need to put the bureau's specific address on the letter and on the envelope.
6) Make a VERY LEGIBLE identification page to include with each letter.
The ID page needs to have photocopies of your social security card, your driver's license, and a utility bill. Those last two items must have matching, current addresses. And make sure the entire page is completely legible or they'll send it all back to you.
7) Mail your credit repair letters.
8) Await the results.
Self credit repair can really be accomplished in just those eight steps. There's no reason to go with a credit repair company. As the Federal Trade Commission attests on their website, anything a CreditRepair company can do for you, you can and should do for yourself!
