Google Product Ads
Google Product Ads

Google has recently introduced Product Ads into their AdWords service. Product Ads is currently only available in the US; I don't know when this will be rolled out in the UK, but it's certainly one to look out for.

Google say that Product Ads makes it "easy for you to promote your entire product inventory while still providing potential customers with high-quality, relevant results"

Product Ads was launched in beta a year ago, so there's a good amount of statistics already. One of the most impressive stats is that people are twice as likely to click on a Product Listing Ad as they are to click on a standard text ad in the same location.

You Need Google Merchant Centre for Product Ads

If you use Product Ads, they are automatically triggered whenever someone's search matches an item in your Merchant Centre account, therefore, if you are not currently using Google Merchant centre, now might be a good time to get started. Google merchant centre is a free tool that will allow you to be listed in the Google shopping results. It's great for generating free traffic and sales on your website, so if you're not currently using it, you're missing a trick, as well as being unable to use Product Ads when it becomes available in the UK.

Cost per Action (CPA) Available

What's interesting is that advertisers can choose a cost-per-action (CPA) model, whereby a cost is only incurred when a user purchases a product via Product Ads, which is fantastic if you're not achieving a great ROI via your CPC AdWords campaign.
