Watch out Ashley Stewart and Lane Bryant because Ashanti Hamilton of Deztinni by Ashanti-Nichole has arrived. If you are looking for fun fashions for the curvy fashionista, check out emerging talent, Ashanti Hamilton of Deztinni by Ashanti-Nichole (pronounced Destiny). Located in Chicago, Ashanti Hamilton launched her brand due to the frustration of trying to find cool and sexy looks for plus size divas. Ashanti has proven once again that looking good is not restricted to certain sizes only.

Everyone, at any size, can look good in the styles they want to wear. Ashanti's trendy distressed pants, whipped skirts, and braided denim designs are cute and sassy styles that include tees and off-shoulder creations. She definitely rocks that 60's vibe with her tie dyes and bleached denim looks.

Ashanti has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from DePaul University. After doing some modeling and talking to other fashion designers (whom she would ask many questions about the fashion industry), she decided, at age 30, to embark on her own fashion design career. She says she enjoys the freedom of creative expression.

Ashanti-Nichole's mission statement: "To create a clothing line to show the world that women of plus sizes can have fun, be elegant, trendy and sexy all at the same time." Ashanti says her collection is, "very different, fun, funky, trendy (60's & 70's mix)."

Ashanti's favorite celeb to design for would be Jill Scott.

Check her out on Facebook or shop on her website. Prices range between $20 to $70.

In five years, Ashanti plans to branch out into other design areas such as kids, teens and also a lingerie line for women who have had breasts removed, due to breast cancer. She envisions having her own flagship store.

Ashanti says if she wasn't designing for plus size fashionistas, she would be working in the computer industry.
