A volcanic tuff cone,Diamond Head,is a United States Monumentlocated on the Southeast side of Oahu.It is part ofthe Honolulu Volcanic Series,a series of eruption flows,vents,and cones.These eruptions happened long after the Koolau Volcano became dormant.
If you like your beaches on the quieter side Waimanalo Beachis located on the windward(eastern) side of the island of Oahu Island,and has the longest stretch of sand beach in all of Oahu. The town of Waimanalo Beach is sparselypopulated with a population of less than 5000 people. Hanauma Bayis a marine enviornment formed within a volcanic coneand is located just east of Honolulu.Hanauma is a protectedNature Preserve and part of the Marine Life Consevation District.The bay is known for its magestic coral heads and reef formations,and with an abundance of Green Sea Turtles and Parrot Fishit is a "must see"of the Oahu Island.
Known for its large waves in the winter,Sunset Beach,is located on the North of Oahu Island. It is home to numerious surfing competitions and is a beach for experienced surfers.With dangerious coral formations near the surface,it can be a dangerious spot for beginning surfers.
