With a maximum monthly duty cycle that allows for extremely heavy print volumes, the Kyocera Mita KM-5050 is perfect for the office setting that requires a small printer with big print capacities. The Kyocera Mita KM-5050 can print at a speed of up to 50 pages per minute onto standard letter sized paper. Unfortunately, the drop off in speed for legal size printing is almost unheard of, at 26 pages per minute. Luckily, ledger sized paper operates at the same print speed of 26 pages per minute, which is more than acceptable. The unit's warm up time of 30 seconds is also fairly decent, but its first copy and print out times of 3.5 seconds is almost unmatched by units of any caliber, including industrial strength copy machines.
Paper handling abilities come in the form of dual 500 sheet paper drawers and a 200 sheet capacity multipurpose tray. Helpful features such as automatic tray switching and paper refilling while a project is in process keep business moving along with minimal downtime. Additional paper trays are available as well and can bring the Kyocera Mita KM-5050's total paper capacity all the way up to 4,200 sheets total. On top of the optional 3,000 sheet large capacity tray, additional dual paper drawers can be added as well, though not simultaneously. With two additional 500 sheet trays, an enormous range of paper sizes and colors can be programmed to be automatically switched between by the machine, which can save a drastic amount of time when dealing with a variety of media.
Other expansion options include a simple finisher with a 1,000 sheet letter sized paper capacity, or a 500 sheet legal or ledger size paper capacity. An internal finisher is available as well, but is only good for 250 sheets. A fax modem can be added for full fax functionality, but does not come standard with the printer. The Kyocera Mita KM-5050 does, however, come complete with full network support that includes network scanning abilities in black and white or color.
A large capacity finisher is available as well and is good for up to 3,000 sheets of storage which would compliment the large capacity paper drawer quite well. A multi tray add on can be used to create up to 7 mailboxes or to sort a string of projects and keep documents from getting cluttered. A hole punch unit is great for making large booklets, while a small booklet folder can operate with up to 16 sheets per booklet and up to 30 booklets at a time. The Kyocera Mita KM-5050 is a good multifunctional center not only for its raw power, but its expandability options as well.
