subject: How To Buy The Right Conference Table [print this page]

If you have a business and conduct many meetings at your place of business, you should have a conference room. If you have a conference room then you are going to need a conference table. The conference table is going to be the focal point of the room so you want it to make a statement. Since many of the people sitting at the table will be first-time visitors to your company, you want the conference table to make a positive impact about you and your company.

When choosing a conference table you will want it to have a professional feeling and yet be warm and inviting. You need a table that can do all of this and be functional at the same time. The table has to be sturdy so things placed on top don't shake or move around when bumped into.

Many people think that all they need to do when choosing a conference table is to choose one that is large. The truth of the matter is that it has to have the proper proportions to fill the room but not overwhelm the room. You will need to take measurements of the room to make sure you get a conference table that is the right size.

There are other factors to consider when choosing a conference table. The shape and build of the table will go along way in making the right statement for your company. The most popular table shapes are rectangular, boat-shaped and racetrack. If you have a smaller conference room round, square and octagonal are popular choices. The build or base of the table also makes a statement as the base of the table gives the conference table its' strength. The different bases you can choose from are panel-style, trestle, pedestal and X-base.

One last thing that you will need to consider when choosing the proper conference table is the material that it is constructed from. Wood is the most common but there are other materials. Even if the table is constructed of some other material, you can still have a wood top. So which material do you want? Again wood is the common choice but there are other candidates. You could go with a glass top but if you use your table a lot this may not be the best choice of tops. Maybe the best tops are laminate tops since they are almost indestructible. They will not fade, scratch or stain, are easy to clean and take care.
