Keenan, a native of Birmingham, England, reportedly picked up the flu while on a tour of Australia and had been on a life support machine since Christmas, Daily reports.

Tragic loss for record label
Keenan formed Broadcast in Birmingham in 1995 along with the bassist James Cargill and two other musicians. Eventually the group reduced to a duo of Keenan and Cargill.

Trish contracted virus while traveling
Meanwhile, Keenans manager Martin Pike told music website Spinner today that the influential singer had picked up swine flu while overseas.
She had been in Australia, and had stayed on to see relatives and she had come back home and fell ill when she was back in England, he said.
Broadcast released three albums and collaborated on a mini-LP with The Focus Group in October 2009. The band released several critically acclaimed albums, including 2000s The Noise Made by People and 2005s Tender Buttons.
