Clutter in the home is a common thing that even the most clean-freak person still gets to accumulate an assortment of things over the years and as such, could add up to the disorder and mess at home. Read on and learn a few tips on how to de-clutter your home before the start of the New Year begins.

1.For dresses and shoes, sell them off by having garage sales or through auction sites like eBay. It will only eat up space in your home so better sell them to organize your place and at the same time, earn money for you.

2.Donate old books and toys to the nearest charitable institution. It helps to pay forward, and giving away your old books and toys will give you a better feeling for the New Year. Remember that good karma is always good for you.

3.Remember the old adage, the things you can live without, throw them? Check your things at home at re-assess if you really need to use them (even in the future). And if these things don't really matter to you, throw them away. If they can be sold, then add them to your items for sale, if they are beyond sale, and then throw them away.

4.For other important things like documents, your wedding dress you cannot throw away, your kids memorabilia and other unforgettable stuff, put them in a box and keep then in a reputable self-storage facility. You will be amazed to know that renting self-storage facilities will not only make your life a lot better for the New Year, but will also bring more space into your home for newer things to come.

So before January 2011 sets in, time to re-organize your life by de-cluttering your home. The ambiance and the cleanliness of your living space will greatly improve the way you will live your life for the year to come, so learn to let go and de-clutter your home for the New Year.
