If you want to trade forex using expert advisors, you have two options.
a) use your own computer and let it on 24h a day or in the schedule your robot trades, I don't advise this one since theres a lot of bad things that can happen like internet connection problems, crashing or lack of resources in case your doing something else with the computer.
b) rent a windows virtual private server ( vps ) with a good reliable hosting company and have your expert advisors running 24h a day 7 days a week worries free. This last option is the best, you can find vps servers from $20 dollars but remember you get what you pay for. Before picking the hosting company go to google and search for reviews. It's easy to find a reliable company that offers this service between $35 and $45 dollars a month.
If you're serious about forex trading it's a very small investment. Another big advantage of this approach is that you can access your server from every were or any operating system ( MacOsx, Linux ) because the metatrader software only runs on windows, although it's possible to make it run under linux using wine.
Currently, in my vps server I have 4 metatraders accounts open with two EA's each and multiple charts ( 25 ) and only use 180 Mb of ram and 2% CPU so with this information you can have an idea of what do you need.
Ok now I will make a quick list of the steps you need to do, in order to have a trading server working for you:
1) Buy a VPS from a hosting company,search forreliable and with good reviews company.
2) Once you get your server IP just Connect using "Remote Desktop Connection" ( Start->Programs->Accessories->Remote Desktop Connection ). Just put your server IP in the "computer" field use your login, and it's done you have a VPS.
3) You can change the resolution of your remote desktop before login click the option's button.
4) By now you should have a remote desktop, you can use that like you would use any other computer. That includes installing software, which is what we need.
5) Install the metatrader software from your broker, put the login instructions ( you should read the help files from your broker in case you need help on that ).
6) install your expert advisors and start trading.
It's very easy and you don't need any special knowledge because you get a familiar windows desktop the only difference is that is far away from you ( probably ). Depending of your VPS features you can install many metatraders from different brokers just open "windows task manager" and see if you have resources available.
