When on holiday of course you will want to provide a small tip to the staff that have provided good quality service. But it is important to understand that depending on where you travel to the amount you tip can differ from one place to another. So it is advisable that before you travel to any particular holiday resort that you learn as much as you can about this aspect of it.

Tipping In Restaurants, Bars & Cafe
When you visit such places you will often find that the bill presented to you when asked for includes not only a tax but also a service charge. Although the tip has already been included in the bill it is also customary for this to then be rounded up.
For example if your bill comes to say 28.50 Euros then round it up to 30 Euros instead and explain to the person who has been serving you that this is what you wish to do. Also when you hand over the cash or write this on your credit card slip make sure that you say "Danke" as you hand them this. It is a clear sign to them that you are saying that they should "keep the change".
Tipping Taxi Drivers
You don't have to but it is customary in Austria that you add a further 10% on the total meter charge for the trip you have taken. So again if your journey costs 10 Euros then include a further 1 Euro tip on top.
Tipping Hotel Staff
In Austria it is customary to tip the porters or bellhops who take the luggage to your room 1 Euro for each bag you have.
