subject: Cellulite Treatment - Don't Fall For The Hype [print this page]

The cellulite industry is one of the most scam ridden industries out there. Since cellulite is such a wide spread problem, affecting as much as 90% of women in some countries, there's no wonder why people take advantage of it. It's a very sensitive issue for many women and causes a lot of self esteem issues. It effects women young and old, and of every race and background. While the true cause is highly debatable, most of the causes you read about in magazines and online are purely fabricated. Most of them are made up by cellulite 'treatment' companies to help push their products.

For instance, there are no 'toxins' in the skin that cause cellulite. That is completely false. Cellulite fat is exactly the same as any other fat, it's been scientifically proven. The cause of the cottage cheese appearance is due to fat bulging out through lower layers of the skin, like stuffing out of a mattress. Women tend to see cellulite more than men, simply because men store fat in the stomach, whereas women store fat on the thighs and butt. The skin on the thighs and butt is thinner than most other areas of the body, which makes it even more noticeable.

One of the most common scams out there is cellulite creams. These products claim to remove cellulite simply by rubbing a cream into the affected area. They are, however, widely ineffective. Any results you see are very temporary and are caused by increased bloodflow to the skin, which causes it to swell and tighten. The cellulite becomes slightly less visible for a short time period. Hardly a solution if you ask me.

Massage techniques are another common scam. They work in a similar fashion to the creams. By massaging the effected areas, you are increasing bloodflow quite a bit. This causes swelling, which tightens the skin for a short time. This swelling causes the cottage cheese appearance to go away for a little while, but will return as soon as the swelling goes down. It does absolutely nothing to actually break up or remove the cellulite.

The fact is, cellulite is deeper than the skin, and there is no topical product or treatment that can legally penetrate lower than the outer layers of the skin. This being the case, there is no way that these treatments can actually remove or get rid of cellulite. All of these expensive products and treatments are simply short term solutions that offer no real benefit after the effects wear off. In order to continue treatment you'll have to keep shelling out hard earned dollars indefinitely, or you're right back where you started. It's great for the companies, not so great for you.

When searching for cellulite treatment products, always be skeptical. There is currently no proven way to remove cellulite with topical products and treatments. Even pills designed to reduce cellulite are not viable, since targeted fat loss is not possible. They are simply diet pills, aimed at reducing bodyfat percentage.
