If you dont have a vegetable steamer at home, you can improvise it by using a pot, pot lid and a metal colander. At the bottom of the pot, pour a small amount of water then let the metal colander fit into the pot. Let the water boil and as the steam goes up, put your vegetables on the colander then cover it with a pot lid. These cooking items can help you steam vegetables very well just like using a vegetables steamer.

Cooking vegetables using a wok is also a good choice. The wok is created to be able to cook food items at high temperature at as short period of time. Thus, when you cook vegetables this way, youll be assured that their fresh taste and color will be maintained with a loss of nutrient in small amount.

The key to cooking vegetables properly is to avoid overcooking it. Vegetables need to retain their crisp, color and texture. Learning this secret will make you successful in cooking any vegetable dishes in various events and occasions.
