The whole world knows him, Julian Assange, the founder and spokesman of WikiLeaks. Arrested and jailed without bailby Scotland Yard the 7th of December 2010in London in a sex crime investigation.
Many stories goes around on the internet, people supporting him, people are against him, hacker groups are attacking companies who blocks WikiLeaks or who is againstJulian Assange(Like Sarah Palin, Master Card, Visa,.)
I don't want to discuss the pro and the contras here, this will take a lot of time and yes we can have questions on how Interpol is used to catch the man who had sex without condom or we can debate if it is tolerated someone steals information and publish it and put life's of persons in danger.
I want to discuss the fact he is in jail and why it is a good reasons. There are many reasons why it isn't that bad after all.
First of all, Julian Assange knew this will happen one day or later and he doesn't look to me a stupid man. He knows what he is doing and he prepared this for a long time. The proof is that his team (yes heis the founder and spokesman and he also had a team who stayed behind the scenes) keeps on leaking documents.
Safety & Marketing
The 2 smaller but important reasons: He will stay alive. He is jailed in a UK prison (maybe soon in a Swedish jail) and everyone knows this. UK will not take the blame if he is killed in their jail. No governments would like the fact a world famous persons is killed in their prisons because they couldn't guarantee security.
Also the marketing is important; now he is sure more people will know about his project WikiLeaks, more people will read the leaked documents etc.
The most important reason:
The most important reason is himself. He was arrested and put in custody without bail for a sex investigation in Sweden. So 2 possible results can be the outcome
1. He is guilty
2. He is not guilty:
As I don't want to make a stand on his case, as I don't have seen the documents, I didn't talk to him, neither to the women accusing him. But whatever outcome is of this investigation, it will be good for WikiLeaks which is his mission.

If the investigators can find proof he is guilty, Wikileaks can continue without him (WikiLeaks is still leaking documents and I am sure they have some seruous stuff coming up to let us forget about Julian anc continue with the mission in case he is guilty).
2. He is not-guilty
He will be freed, the whole world will film him, he will be in talk shows, he will be a hero. The risk the investigators took to arrest him is huge in case he is not guilty. He will be untouchable when he is freed. (I hope his friends gives him a bullet proof jacket anyway) and WikiLeaks will grown.
My personal note to governments who are attacking Julian Assange and WikiLeaks.
Openly fighting him will put you never in a winning case, he has a mission (whatever mission it is, good or bad). When a person lives for a mission, nothing can stop that.
Whatever direction you go, you will fail. You must change the way you see your enemies. Understanding enemies will give you a better weapon then just phrases and words without the whole picture. You will create followers for you and at least or more for him.
If he is guilty, don't worry, the leaks will continue, if he is not and you are behind the arrest, you will be even more in trouble then with those leaks.
My personal note on this and a message to people and groups who are supporting Julian Assange and WikiLeaks.
If you really support Julian Assange, give him the change to clear his name, via the legal way. He has very good and famous lawyers, he is in the hands of European Intelligence Services and the whole world is watching him. Let justice do their job, if he is not guilty he will be stronger, much stronger. if he is, why would you support a rapist?
This is why I think it is not such a bad idea Julian Assange was arrested. I even believe Julian Assange understand this as he discussed first with his lawyer and he announced he was going to the police himself 1 day before.
