subject: Registryquick - Where To Get Registryquick And How To Use It [print this page]

RegistryQuick Registry Cleaner is, without doubt, the most popular registry repair solution around. But how good is RegistryQuick in detecting and fixing errors in your Windows registry? We've tested RegistryQuick on a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop running Vista to answer this question.

What we tested

We tested RegistryQuick extensively while paying attention to the following:

1. Ease of use. Does RegistryQuick comply with the "don't-make-me-think" concept?

2. Speed of operation. How fast is RegistryQuick in performing an in-depth scan of the registry?

3. Thoroughness. How deep does RegistryQuick scan the registry? Can it identify all possible problems?

4. Ability to fix errors. Can RegistryQuick fix all errors it identifies?

5. Ability to speed up the PC. Corrupt registry is perhaps the most frequent cause of slow PC performance. Can RegistryQuick make your PC faster by correcting errors in the registry?

Let's see the results of the tests one-by-one.

Ease of use

RegistryQuick is definitely very straightforward. The interface is intuitive, and easy to navigate with buttons on the left side of the main screen. Even my 8 year old son could run RegistryQuick without any guidance on my part.

Speed of operation

On our Lenovo ThinkPad T-series laptop running Vista, RegistryQuick was pretty fast. We ran a default auto-scan which uncovers all potential problems, and it took RegistryQuick a little under 2 minutes to find out 675 errors in the registry. Pretty impressive, although on an older machine the scan would probably taken longer to complete.

Thoroughness

As noted above, RegistryQuick discovered 675 errors in the registry. That's a lot of errors, so no wonder the laptop was getting sluggish all the time. It was time to fix those errors, and that's what the next test is all about.

Ability to fix errors

After we performed a deep scan, we told RegistryQuick to fix all errors. This is simple to do, you just click a button, and RegistryQuick goes to work. We were happy to see that RegistryQuick could fix all the errors it had identified, since a subsequent scan did not find any invalid items in the registry. But did this actually make our laptop work faster? Let's see...

Ability to speed up the PC

Now for the critical part -- did RegistryQuick actually speed up our Lenovo laptop? Actually, yes. The Vista Ultimate start up time reduced from 2 minutes and 56 seconds to only 1 minute 23 seconds, which is big boost. Plus, Outlook Express used to take ages to launch, about one and a half minutes, and after RegistryQuick corrected registry errors, Outlook was running like new, and only takes 5 seconds to start.

Considering the results of our tests, we are pretty happy with RegistryQuick. Note, however, that we did need to reboot Vista before we could enjoy a faster laptop, so you may have to do the same.

We will continue to test RegistryQuick under different configurations to see how well it performs, so that readers can make an informed decision when choosing a registry repair program.
