subject: Are There Any Real Remedies For Panic Attacks? [print this page]

I couldn't believe itI couldn't believe it. I was so afraid to even go outside that the overwhelming fear of leaving my comfort zone caused me to quit my job. I tried therapy and consulted with more than a few doctors to try and get help but my condition just kept getting worse.

With the many pressures that people have to deal with today it's no wonder that more and more individuals are looking for remedies for panic attacks.

Have you ever felt like you were dying or like you were about to suddenly pass out?

This is how many people who suffer from panic attacks feel and it can literally take the enjoyment of life right out of you.

In this article I'm going to share some simple techniques you can use to help you cope with panic attacks, however by no means should you delay consulting a physician in the case of a severe panic attack.

Some coping mechanisms commonly used to deal with panic attacks are:

Breathing into a paper bag - While this is one of the simplest ways to help you get your focus together and slow down your breathing, it's important not to do this for a prolonged period of time as the carbon dioxide buildup inside the bag itself can actually intensify your panic attack.

Breathing techniques - Try breathing in and out very slowly through your nose to help balance your body and reduce your response to fear.

Coping statements - Panic attacks are largely psychological and you can combat the intensity of these attacks by reminding yourself that no one has ever died from a panic attack and that the fear is unrealistic.

The term "panic attack" in and of itself can conjure up a mental image of something you need to fight but the reality is that it is only a perceived threat and there's actually no need to fight at all.

These are just a few very simplistic descriptions of some more detailed treatment options that are available to you. The best thing you can do to find relief from your panic and anxiety attacks is to educate yourself as much as possible to find the remedies for panic attacks that are suitable for you, so that you can enjoy a better quality of life again.
