subject: Grandparents Love Online Children's Boutiques [print this page] When I was raising my children, we were young and struggling and clothing was often hand-me-downs from neighbors and relatives. It was a blow to my self-esteem to both not be able to shop without looking at price tags before looking at the clothing and to have to accept someone else's taste in clothing for my children. Now that I am a grandparent of 10, and watching my struggling children try to clothe their children, I love being able to shop at children's boutiques on-line.
One advantage is not having to face a salesperson who asks questions I don't know how to answer, like "What designer do you prefer?" I know nothing of names or designers of adult clothing, much less those who design in sizes I haven't worn in 50 years. I can look at an item, like a dress, read about the details, check a designer's website for other items they produce, and sound intelligent when I get around to talking to a person at a store who thinks I should know the same information they do. Better yet, I don't have to talk to anyone at all, I can just order!
Another great part of on-line shopping is that my visiting grandchild and I can take a virtual shopping trip. I get to know what appeals to the child, and what kind of taste I can or cannot influence. My feet don't hurt traipsing around a mall with an energetic young thing, and the energetic young thing can always teach Gram something new on the Internet. Shopping with children just became a pleasure instead of a dreaded chore. Who knew the future would hold such ease?
Any item of apparel made for an adult seems to come in child sizes. Boys or girls, babies or preteens, normal or unusual sizes - it is all available at a children's boutique. Since becoming a grandparent, I enjoy spoiling the grandchildren with something special or unique that their parents may not be able to afford. But the look on a granddaughter's face when she puts on that fairy tale dress and twirls is priceless. I never got to do that for my kids in this way, but my grandkids will have some of those really special moments when they feel they are on the top of the world and just as good as anyone else in their world.
