The housing market in Detroit is also dismal, although you probably could find a good house for half what it goes for in other areas of the Midwest simply because you are buying a house in Detroit, the city that will steal your entire car body kit without a second thought. Hopefully the city finds some relief in other industries and better jobs opening up there to attract out of city employees to flock to the state and bring in new jobs and new revenue, but as it stands, Detroit is one of the worst places to live, children or not.
