subject: Suzuki Used Cars- They Make A Station Wagon? [print this page]

Did you know that Suzuki used cars like the Esteem is a station wagon? I didnt even know that Suzuki made such a vehicle until I decided to research and write on the Esteem as a used car to buy. Back in the nineties General Motors decided it wanted to compete against the Suzukis Swift. This was Suzukis first successful entry in to the North American automotive market other than its popular sport bikes. General Motors saw how popular Suzuki was doing in the small car marketplace, so they decided to produced vehicles like the Sprint and the Fire Fly just to name a few. What GM did not realize was how Suzuki owned this niche segment of the auto industry, so General Motors decided it was time to leave.

Suzuki Esteem used cars:

After a very successful entry in to the small car market space, Suzuki decided it was time to expand and so in 1996 they launched the Esteem. When it first came to market it had a 1.6-litre engine and the horsepower was only 95hp, not much power more that a sewing machine. Later versions were outfitted with a 1.8-litre, 112 horsepower engine.

The Esteem in all intensive purposes was developed to be the most basic of all vehicles, there is not much to them. Also when researching this model, I could not find anything on the web about safety ratings. So its safe to say that the Suzuki Esteem probably wouldnt pass any of these strict crash tests done to it.

The one thing I did find was statistics on its fuel economy. If youre a university student this is the car for you (minus the safety issues) both the sedan and the station wagon averaged 7.5-litre, per 100km for city driving and 5.5-litre, per 100km for highway driving.

When researching about Suzuki used cars like the Esteem on various website forums, people who owned them said they were very reliable and easy to maintain. Again this vehicle is cheaply put together so if there are problems mechanically you shouldnt pay much for parts. Other than not knowing if the car could with stand an accident to it, theyre a very cheap car to buy used and are perfect for students who need to get around the city in.
