NFL - New England Patriots crush the New York Jets

The New England Patriots closed the thirteenth week of the NFL regular season with a stunning performance in Monday Night Football as they defeated the New York Jets by 45-3. The win puts the Patriots ahead of the AFC East with ten wins, two defeats and a .833 winning percentage, the same record as Atlanta, the NFC South leaders. New England equals Atlanta Falcons' record, but the Falcons are first in the league because they have a better record in their division (3-1)

New England has won six division titles in the AFC East from 2003 to 2009. In 2007 New England had its best seasons with a record of 16 wins and no losses and walked straight into the Super Bowl XLII, where they were defeated 17-14 by New York Giants. So much for a perfect season.

The Patriots are putting all their efforts into winning a division title. They must stay in good shape to be considered one of the best teams in the NFL during the season.

In the opening week of the NFL regular season, New England beat the Cincinnati Bengals 38-24. During the second week they played against their division rivals, the New York Jets, falling 28-14. The Patriots then hosted the worst team in the league, the Buffalo Bills, and without complications defeat them 38-30.

During the fourth week, New England crushed Miami 41-14 and went to their bye week. They came back from the break to face the Baltimore Ravens, and despite some complications claimed victory 23-20. For the seventh week the Patriots repeated last week scenario and defeated the San Diego Chargers. The Minnesota Vikings couldn't stop the New England Patriots from claiming their fifth straight win in the eighth week with a score of 28-18.

The Cleveland Browns finished with the Patriots winning streak serving them a 34-14 defeat. New England recovered and from the tenth to twelfth week recorded three wins in a row.

The Jets have been maintained during recent seasons in the middle and lower positions in the division. His best performances have been in 2004, 2006 and 2009 seasons in which advanced to the playoffs in the NFL.

The main objective of the Jets for this season is to beat the Patriots, as they keep on looking for a pass into the Super Bowl XLV.

The Jets begin the 2010/11 with a 9-10 defeat against Baltimore, but since the second week the men in green recovered and scored five consecutive wins. When they returned from their BYE Week, Green Bay Packers defeated them 9-0, but after the ninth week until the twelfth the Jets recorded three consecutive wins. But then it all went south.

In the thirteenth week the Pats faced their archrivals, the New York Jets. New England showed absolute dominance over the Jets very early in the game. By the end of the first quarter the Pats had scored two touchdowns and a field goal and were ahead by 17-0.

The Jets scored a field goal in the second quarter, but beyond that, the Jets just couldn't get it together and bring any real game to the showdown. The New England Patriots increased where up by 31-3 by the time both teams went for their halftime break.

The weak and disorganized Jets offense was the key to New England scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take a resounding 45-3 victory.

The star of the match was undoubtedly the New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady, who threw 29 balls to complete 21 passes of which four were converted into touchdowns, scored 326 yards, suffered no interceptions and took over Brett Favre's record for more consecutive games (26) won at home in regular season. For his part, Mark Sanchez, the Jets' quarterback played his worst game of the season, completed 17 of 33 passes, ran 164 yards, threw no touchdown passes and suffered three interceptions.

This result makes it look like New England one of the teams most likely to advance to the playoffs. Their next opponents will be Chicago and Green Bay, which are first and second respectively in the NFC North.
