subject: Government Introduce New Scheme To Help Smes Grow [print this page]

The Government has recently announced they are keen to see the amount of SMEs increase in the coming year. To this effect they have introduced a new initiative called the New Enterprise Allowance which is designed to hopefully create 40,000 new companies by 2013.

The coalition has decided to overhaul the Business Link website and create a Startup Hub so that companies can register online. The Startup Hub is designed so new businesses can set up tax matters, clearer and better information will be published on the site and public procurement notices will be posted online.

The new initiative will introduce 40,000 business mentors that will be able to give advice to people starting their own business. Mark Prisk the business and enterprise minister said it was extremely important to encourage the enterprise culture and in order for firms to succeed they need easy access to advice, information and mentoring.

Good News for Umbrella Company contractors who hope to obtain new placements as the latest Reed Job Index shows a year on year increase in demand for jobs. The report showed that demand was up 4% on the corresponding month.

Martin Warnes, MD of reed.co.uk, said there is cause for cautious optimism about job prospects this year. Increased private sector demand has more than offset the decrease in public sector vacancies so far. The jobs market avoided a double-dip last year and new job demand continues to be led by the private sector.
