Our world's rapid change has already gone invisible. This invisibility is not a yesterday thing but something introduced in the down of the information age. Computers have replaced humans in many sectors of the society. Automobiles and air travel have resulted to an even more rapidly evolving world. Today, one no longer needs physical appearance so as to participate in activities that help maintain this spaceship earth on its track. We can now do anything in one sitting in the information age. Although all these changes have occurred, the most important part of the environment which has the power to reason and adapt has maintained the quagmire of conditioned reflex and continued trusting in the same old fossilized ideas. The inertia of laziness has taken a better part of most human minds and rotates them in the same narrow circle of go to school, get a good job, buy a house, get married , get kids and when it comes to money, play it safe by saving or investing in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. This inertia has made many glued to the notion of a paycheck for life. When will we realize how far we are and try to cope up with the speed of the environment?
Robert Kiyosaki says that the rich get richer while the poor and middleclass get poorer because the rich do the kind of work which generate money exponentially while the poor and middleclass do work that generate money linearly. This is a good and truthful fact as evident in today's world. Although our resources in the world are changing exponentially, many people maintain the linear way of thinking and hope to cope up perfectly. Well, for those people, I think a fast train cannot slow down for slow passer-bys and spaceship earth, which is moving at a very fast pace cannot hold those who still think at the same level their ancestors thought. Most of the people who have passed through the school system only know a world of scarcity. They know the world where one must always and only earn as an individual. There are those who go out there to look for jobs so as to satisfy their families and themselves. They do not know the power of synergy on which every matter on our universe is designed. They are lazy to even look around and realize that they are moving slowly. Why should one choose to help the world at so slow a pace that compares negligible to the rate at which the world itself is changing? I think we should learn how to work by the second, get paid by the second and help the world in the same second instead of working by the second, get paid by the month and help the world by the year. We should learn the rule of exponentials and adapt to the chain reaction of rapid material and service generation at an even lower cost.
The notion of go to school to get a good job is an industrial aged idea. Not only that, it is a dream and many people usually fail to make sense when they expect to get rich through the same system which teaches them how to be strong employees instead of giving them the secrete of how to be strong entrepreneurs. Why should one go to the job market and fight for that one job instead of going out there and creating more opportunities? This is what I mean when I say that many people think, work and live linearly. Why don't we think of how we can enhance synergy and make a whole by bringing together people who can do what we cannot then make one complete and powerful chain synergistically? Why don't we yearn to make a chain that can move the world into an era of improved living standards for all? Why don't we employ the spirit of entrepreneurship and help improve everyone in the society? We have to gain speed and know how to perform the small and big things at an exponential pace which can cope up with the speed of change of the world.
Newton, in his third law of motion says that "action and reaction are always equal and opposite". In our society today, most people have concentrated their energy in creating actions whose reactions they cannot manage. Thinking in an employee scale is one such action. Being a devastated employee who does not like his job is the reaction. Many individuals focus much of the energy on getting job security forgetting that much security steals away freedom (Why are prisons called Maximum Security Centers?). This is because, just like most of the people take their time to look for job security, which they finally get, prisoners take most of their time working hard to go against the law and they usually get caught and given security. Both a prisoner and an employee seek for and get security. The only difference between an employee and a prisoner is that most employees wear suits while prisoners wear uniforms and that the employees get paid. It is self evident that staying on a job for life gives you nothing at the end. When will people realize that they cannot sell their jobs and that saving for retirement is losing money to inflation and taxes? Funny enough, we complain too much and curse the world for what it has done for us forgetting that we are the captives of our own identity.
When I was young, just like many, I used to imagine of a world of Utopia. I used to imagine how I would work hard and make man live in space. How I would one day build cities in the moon and how I would serve the world. To me, this was possible eventhough I did not know any of such achievements. Deep down, I believed that anything is possible so long as we have faith and desire. What I am trying to say is that the environment we grow up in has many obstacles of pessimism and disbelief. The clear ages of imagination slowly disappeared and I was programmed by the school system and people in the society to know that without a job there is no life. The system also programmed me to see the world as a world of constants and to have a vintage of disbelief and low self esteem. It is funny that even at the moment; parents, elders and the school system still program our kids to think at the same level with them, forgetting that the world has changed so much and the truths they know have become lies and misguiding. This is the generation where we should nature the spirit of entrepreneurship in our kids and bring up men and women who can actually use common sense to change this world. Well, common sense is not usually common and the industrial aged common sense, although common, is an outdated common sense. The industrial aged common sense utilizes the snail speed of job security while the information age common sense utilizes the supersonic speed of entrepreneurship.
I once heard of a story about an antelope that was running for its life from a lion. The antelope ran so fast but it kept on looking behind (due to fear) to see how close the lion was. Unfortunately, it hit itself on a tree and fell. The lion walked slowly and enjoyed its meal. This story shows that we should take care not to look behind to see how close the problems of job mentality that we ran from are. It shows us that when we gain momentum towards saving our financial life, we should focus and even speed up because if we don't, we will hit the tree of discouragers and cowards and then fall. Do not be a meal to the lion of job security and lack of freedom. Do not lose your momentum because right now, we've got a need for speed.
