Learn What Airsoft Upgrade Parts Are Available Part 1

This article is part 1 of a two part series that will tell you about the different airsoft upgrades you can use to upgrade your AEG. As you will see, there are a lot of parts out there to upgrade your AEG. This article will talk about cylinder heads, hop up buckings, barrels, hop up chambers, air nozzles, spring guides, upgrade springs, and cylinders.

Airsoft Hop Up Buckings. Basically, this part puts back spin on the airsoft BB in order for it to fly farther. In general, if you gun shoots 350 FPS (Feet Per Second) or more, you should use a hard hop up bucking, and if your gun shoots 350 FPS or less, you should usually use a soft hop up bucking.

Airsoft Hop Up System (Chamber). In order for your AEG to shoot more consistently, your AEG has a hop up chamber

Airsoft Barrels. People often change there barrel for a longer/shorter barrel or for a tightbore barrel. The tightbore barrel makes your gun more accurate. If you are not using poor quality BBs, the tighter your barrel is the better. Stock barrels are usually 6.08mm in diameter, where as tightbore barrels range from 6.01m to 6.05mm in diameter. Some tightbore barrels come with a TN coating which will increase your FPS 10+.

Airsoft Upgrade Spring. The stronger your spring, the faster your gun will shoot. They range from M90 to M180; for high-speed setups, the lower the spring you will want (M100 for example). In turn, for high-torque setups, you will want a high powered spring (M150 for example). If you don't have high quality internals and you are using a high powered spring, your gears will probably get damaged. A spring will either be stainless steel or oil tempered; oil tempered is for stronger springs. Airsoft Spring are rated in Meters Per Second. For Example, an M140 spring goes 140 Meters Per Second.

Airsoft Spring Guide. You must have a spring guide in you gearbox so that the spring won't jump into the gear case. You can either purchase steel or plastic spring guides. If your spring guide has spacers, your muzzle velocity will increase.

Airsoft Cylinder. Inorder for air to be forced down your barrel, you must have a cylinder to compress the air. The shorter the cylinder the shorter the barrel you should use. To make the ROF increase, a few manufactures make there cylinders with a teflon coating.

Airsoft Cylinder Head. A high quality cylinder head will either give your AEG a better air seal or it will make it quieter.

Airsoft Air Nozzle. The main function of the air nozzle is to push a BB into the hop up chamber. Another thing it does, is it provides a better air seal.
