Here are the many ways in which this show excels: the geeks are lovable, funny, human, and not pathetic. The plot of the show helps you to really feel for them. The female neighbor Penny is a very sweet girl and for once the characters are educated and thoughtful. They are not the usual dumb nerds around women like we are so familiar with seeing.
The dynamics and the dialog between the four friends is fast paced, funny and rich with detailed observations. This is a comedy by Chuck Lorre, the guy who has created Dharma (from Dharma & Greg) so I am fully expecting Pennys character to bloom into far more than what meets the eye. The four male leads establish their personalities in the pilot with such ease that it is clear we are watching a very well written and well acted show. The writers and entire cast are super brilliant for creating a show like this. I hope this funny, smart show stays around. We need a comedy with wit and heart, and for a change - lovable geeky brains too.
I am pretty sure the average fan before they started watching this show was a little curious as to what it is about and if it would be funny. After you start watching the show for a while it grows on you and before you know it you are hooked and laughing all over the place.
