You must have chanced upon news of online stalking, and yet ignored it since you are not the victim. You may have pitied the victim's limited intellect. The fact is that it happens with such smoothness that it is hard to stem the tide. It is better to remain vigilant than repentant. Cyber bullying is a horrible online crime which has some very knowledgeable operators.

Their victims are often teenagers who have not yet attained a rigid mindset and living a dependent life. Through certain indiscretions, you manage to divulge all and sundry details of your personal life and that of your close ones. These bullies befriend you and slowly become inseparable friend of yours through mails and chats or on Facebook or MySpace. They will ask about your fears and any unsavory incident of your life. Whether you have a suicidal tendency or depressed attitude. Then they plan their attack.

How it changes your mindset?

When they begin to shadow you constantly, Cyber bullying grows into online stalking. The latter can pose problems to even stable minded celebrities. You may find yourself spending money on little fancies of the bully. You will also turn rebellious towards your parents, grow reluctant towards studies and start avoiding your friends. This may even lead to long calls on your mobile wherein your mind will be washed severely. They will pose as your rescue and change your very perception of life.

Tricks of cyber bullies

Unfortunately, many teenagers are in this fold and don't share their plight with their parents and elders. They slowly become withdrawn and wither in confidence. For instance, if you are assured that you are impotent, how confident will you feel about life? There are tricks these Cyber bullies play which will force you to accept that these people are the very best and can do anything.

One wonders what profits these bullies attain by tormenting their victims. Maybe, they just like it this way or are feeding their hassled ego. They are themselves being bullied in normal life and retaliate online. You should however not continue your correspondence with these bullies regularly. Don't give them access to other id's or your phone number. For starters, any stranger trying to become over-friendly is dangerous. This is a rule with limited exceptions.

You, as parents, shouldn't allow excess single time to your children. Keep track as to what they do in their leisure times. If they surf online, see that they surf good sites. Keep note of their online friends and ask about them. Report anything amiss to cyber bullying law enforcement agencies. There is aid available if you want.
