Grand Piano Bench - How to Find the Correct Bench for your Grand Piano

Many consumers ask - does my grand piano need a special piano bench, or will just any bench do the job? It's important to know before you buy and get the pertinent information in advance of the purchase.

The most appropriate piano bench models for an acoustic grand piano are the traditional (common) piano benches with music storage and the deluxe adjustable models. While some smaller piano benches may serve the purpose they may vary in length and in height since they are designed for keyboards and electronic organs. All benches marketed for use with acoustic pianos will serve the function of grand pianos benches since the upright acoustic piano and acoustic grand piano have the same keyboard height.

Once you purchase a grand piano bench the assembly steps are quick and easy. Most all benches marketed today are pre-assembled with the legs inside the music compartment or underneath the seat if it's an adjustable bench. When you begin assembling first remove the legs from the plastic packing and place the body of the piano bench on an elevated surface, lift the bench seat and place the leg screw in the metal angle slot, place the flat washer first then the lock washer and hand tighten the bolt. After you proceed to fasten all four legs in this manner place the bench on a flat surface so the legs will be uniform and tighten all the leg bolts firmly. If the bench is an adjustable style bench, the assembly will be under the piano seat frame the bench seat pad will be facing downward when you fasten the legs.
