Diet and way of life are two important factors that influence the health of your hair. Illness, poor diet, and lack of particular vitamins and minerals have an effect on the quality of hair and problems like dandruff, hair thinning, balding, premature graying etc.

Dandruff - Dry skin flaking off the scalp and itchiness is denoted as dandruff.

Premature Graying - Hair graying of is a natural process that happens with increasing age. But if the hair starts graying before the age of 35, it is called premature graying. Too much consumption of coffee, tea, alcohol, meat, oily, fried, greasy, spicy, sour, and acidic food items leads to graying of hair prematurely.

Balding / Hair Loss

When the amount of hair lost increases higher than the normal hair fall that occurs as a result of the growth of new hairs, increasing age or change in environment, it is referred to as hair loss problem. Hormonal imbalance, improper or poor diet, exposure to lots of cosmetics or chemicals, anxiety, stress and mental tension are some reasons of hair loss.

Itchy Scalp - Allergic reaction to shampoo, aggravation of stress, air conditioning, pollution and central heating can lead to an itchy and red scalp, with small pimples or sores, dry and dull hair.

Tips to Prevent these Conditions

Regular cleaning and brushing is very important for the health of your hair. When hairs are brushed, the oil-producing glands in the scalp get stimulated. This natural oil makes the hair healthy and glossy. To give extra shine, after washing rinse the hair with some lemon juice mixed in a cup of warm water.

Use natural shampoo or soap to clean the hair. Improve oiling and massaging of scalp. Apply mustard oil or coconut oil at least three times in a week. After washing, rub the scalp vigorously. It increases the blood circulation, and activates the sebaceous glands.

The diet should comprise more green leafy vegetables, salads, fruits and sprouts. Take more proteins, vitamin A, milk, buttermilk, wheat germ, yeast and soybean.
