Several Tips to Cut Levolor Blinds to Fit Your Windows

Levolor is one of the popular brands of window blind which comes in a wide range of colors and models. In addition to colors and models, these blinds come in some different materials such as metal, vinyl, wood, and fabric. You can possibly find blinds but it does not match the size of your window. For this case, cutting your blinds will be the right solution.

There are some steps you can do to cut your window blinds. The tools you will need include measuring tape, masking tape, pen, flat screw driver, rubber band, and hacksaw. Here are some tips to guide you cut the blinds.

The first thing you have to do is to detach the blind off the window and put it on a flat surface such as floor. Tie the cords which can lower and raise the blinds into the loose knot. Then, pop off the caps below the bottom blind rail using a flat screwdriver. Then, untie the knot of each string and pull the slats out of its place and put it on the soft surface.

Secondly, you have to measure the size of the slats you will need by using a measuring tape. Mark them to guide you for the right cut. Before cutting, secure the slat by using a wide rubber band and make sure that they have the precise alignment. To prevent damage, you can cover them with masking tape and use dull blade hacksaw.

Thirdly, pull the end stiffener or metal piece out of the head rail. Place a mark on which you need to trim. Cut down the head rail by using a hacksaw. Use the mark to guide you. Then, cut the bottom rail the way you cut the top rail. After cutting, put back the end stiffener to the head rail.

The next thing to do is to trim the metal piece which keeps the retraction mechanism along with the tilt control. Mark on the part you need to cut. Trim the metal rod connecting to a tilt mechanism in the head rail. Also, you can mark on the valance to cut. Cut it right below the line for the metal brackets.

The last thing you have to do is to put back the slats into the strings. Simply slide them into the string ladders. Ensure that all finish surfaces face the same direction and align the holes on the slats. Then, feed back the string into the holes. After all are ready, you have to hang the blinds back to the window.
