subject: How Harsh Can Cyber Bullying Get? [print this page]

Every place in which there is human population, there are rules to follow and live. There are also ways in which these rules are broken and life is made hard. This is also the case in online world which is growing with human intervention daily. It has its pre-determined rules and laws. Cyber bullying and cyber stalking are few ways to break this law.

Cyber bullying can be mild in which people are constantly pestered with video blogs, unwanted mails and sexual texts. Some people, especially kids, acquire its taste and even have a soft corner for these additions. However, when it gets serious, victims lose their sleep over it and form an absurd opinion of them.

Extreme cases of Cyber bullying

In extreme cases, cyber bullies will open hate groups against you and post it on social networking sites. Rate at which these groups gain members will automatically play upon your mindset. It is almost like 'I hate potatoes'. Image morphing is also a venomous style of Cyber bullying that can affect even starlets and celebrities. Your direct face profile gets a nude body attachment of somebody else, and then posted here and there. And then a copy is sent to you. Imagine how you will feel then.

Thus it is best to enter online world with a conception that there may be some mischief done with you of this sort. Again, be rather easy going and harmless while associating with your friends on the social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. Don't divulge your whole personal date online by any means. If and when it gets into wrong hands, you may repent rather harshly.

Things you should avoid

You should not get your correspondence with quirky strangers to another level. For instance, if you liked a porn story of any writer and mailed him so, there are chances that he will replete you with stories and ask for some returns. Cut this sort of crap. Don't share your mobile number with every tom, dick and harry. You are sometimes encouraged to fill your details for becoming member of an online servicing site. Stick to the premises and give just basic information, that too after ascertaining that they have a privacy policy.

For parents, it is your duty to put an encouraging hand on your child's back if he becomes a victim of Cyber bullying. Report this fact to Cyber bullying law enforcers. There are a few Cyber bullying campaigns running in different corners of the world. Take support from these campaigns.

In the initial stage, pose some restrictions on your kids and ensure that they aren't going to cyber cafes too much for your concern. Even if you know little about Internet, you will understand when there is something wrong.
