subject: What Does Great Mcat Study Look Like? [print this page] You're fairly certain you've got the best MCAT review under your belt. In fact, you're confident in your ability to get the kind of test score that opens doors to the best medical schools in the country.
So why do you need to worry about what great MCAT study looks like? After all, doesn't it all boil down to perspective?
Not necessarily. In fact, as a MCAT test prep coach, I've seen far too many students miss out on the medical school of their dreams because they didn't take a step back to reflect on their own study. They thought that memorizing the information was enough - and once they learned all of the material, their review would naturally turn into great study.
But here's the kicker: attempting to memorize your test prep will only set you up for failure. After all, no student has ever learned the information like the back of their hand. And when they walk in to the testing center that day trembling with fear and test anxiety, the meager amount of information they do know goes straight out of the window.
Well, guess what: I'm here to prevent that from happening to you.
These Four MCAT Study Tips will Save You on the Big Day!
Walking into that testing center without these four principles by your side is like driving a car without having practiced before. Sure, you know how it's supposed to work...
...But if you don't have the confidence that goes along with practice, how can you expect to drive like a great driver?
With that being said, I want to explore these four important principles with you right now. They'll really help you when you're in a pinch.
And trust me, when you face those test questions, you're going to be feeling the pinch!
*You should have plenty of MCAT test awareness. This means acknowledging that this exam is like no other that you've taken before - and that includes scoring. With traditional tests, you could get an answer wrong and receive a low score. But where those test questions are concerned, you can get a few wrong and still get a very high score. So don't let a few tough questions or a bad section get you down!
*You need plenty of stamina to ace this exam. I've seen too many students run out of gas on the last section. Make sure that your practice involves taking full-length tests under similar conditions, as it'll prevent you from experiencing the grueling mental (and even physical) exhaustion.
*Confidence is key in passing this exam. It doesn't matter if you've studied your test prep backwards and forwards - if you don't believe that you can pass the exam, then you won't. It's as simple as that.
*Above all, realize that this test isn't the end of the world. The pressure on your shoulders may make you feel as though it is - but it doesn't define who you are as a person.
