The problem we have is that a food such as this is 'discovered' in the West, it gains huge publicity, it is marketed aggressively by companies, and then comes the backlash. In the end the actual real benefits of the fruit are stampeded, by either the companies just concentrating on one of its benefits, in this instance the fact that it helps you lose weight, or by the backlash from the publicity campaigns, where people try to pick holes in what eventually becomes a circus.
The Western world has taken probably the least important benefit of the fruit, and blown it out of all proportion, which in turn sets off the 'anti' brigade to attack the whole industry. but it is important not to forget the facts, that the acai berry is a very useful food to mankind, and can give a number of benefits to us all.
