subject: Nfl Tickets - Analyzing The Nfc East After Week 8 [print this page] Week 8 of the NFL's regular season was a significant one for the NFC East, as each of the four teams played a division rival and helped separate the big dogs from the novices. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys were the two teams to come out of Week 8 division games with wins, both becoming 5-2 while earning a place atop the NFC East standings. The NFC East has been a big seller of NFL tickets this season as all four teams in the division have been neck-and-neck so far, and here's how the teams stack up after Week 8, in descending order.
Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys put a whuppin' on the Washington Redskins in Week 8, posting a 38-17 win over their division rival on their way to a 5-2 record. Tony Romo's outstanding performance in Week 8 marked his third consecutive game to have a passer rating of more than 100, and he also hasn't thrown an interception in that long, as well. If Romo and Co. keep it up, they'll be a hot number in the NFC East, but they still have everything to prove in Week 9 when Dallas matches up against Philadelphia in another tough division battle.
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles have had an up-and-down season so far this year, but the team's stellar performance against the New York Giants in Week 8 (a 40-17 victory) puts them back in contention for the NFC East title. The Eagles' Week 8 win against the Giants was particularly impressive considering that running back Brian Westbrook was out of commission, and Donovan McNabb was very accurate at the helm after having a spotty couple of weeks, bringing this Philly team back up to par.
New York Giants: The Giants started off the season very strong, but their 5-0 start quickly soured with games against the Saints, Cardinals and Eagles in Weeks 6, 7 and 8, respectively. New York's downfall has largely come from its faltering defense, as the Giants gave up 391 yards to the Eagles in Week 8. Quarterback Eli Manning has also been slow to recover from what the team called a minor heel injury. The Giants will have to recoup and re-strategize to beat the San Diego Chargers in Week 9, so let's hope for New York's sake the Giants can pull it together and end that three-game losing streak.
Washington Redskins: The Skins are sitting low on the NFC East rankings right now, hitting a low point when they fell to the Cowboys 38-17 in Week 8. So far this season, the Redskins have only beaten the 0-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 1-7 St. Louis Rams, but they've also been beaten by subpar teams like the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs - a less than spectacular start on the season. Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder even went so far as to address the public recently, saying he feels bad for the fans and embarrassed for the team. Let's just hope the Skins know where to focus their energies going into Week 9 - less on Jim Zorn and more on actual play.
