subject: Enjoy Sport Vacation Destinations Offer A Lot More Than Just Sports! [print this page]

Love sport? Love holidaying and vacations? Have you ever thought of combining the two? Im guessing thats a no. But guess whats the latest offer in the tourism industry? Yep, you got it, sport vacations. So what exactly, is a sport vacation? It is as simple as the name suggests a vacation which combines your two great loves travelling and sport.

What Is Sport Tourism

For example, if you are a huge fan of football or soccer, you would love to see a game live, right? So why not get together with all your like minded pals and go for a vacation to a city in which a tournament is being played and if your favourite teams are part of the tournament then its absolute bliss! But even if youre neutral for all intents and purposes, then you can still get caught up in all the excitement of the game anyway.

Sport tourism is a great opportunity, not just for you as a sport lover, to enjoy your favourite form of sport, but also for the host city or country to witness a huge boost to its travel and tourism industry. This is simply because one not only goes to different places to witness games, but can also take in the sights and sounds of the region while theyre in the area.

What To Do Learn By Example!

In fact, these days, hosting a sporting event is actually the best way to enhance any countrys tourism. Take, for example, the Commonwealth games which took place in India recently. All the athletes who took part in the games, as well as the thousands of people who came to see the events live made it a point to visit the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the world and the original monument of love which is situated in Agra and is quite close to the capital, New Delhi, where the games took place.

So what does one do on a sport tourism tour? Its pretty much like any normal vacation, but the added attraction is that you can witness your favourite teams play your favourite sport as well. You need to plan your agenda according to the schedule of the sporting events that you would like to be a part of.

But do make sure that you take in all the sights and sounds of the place or the country where the sporting event is being held. If this involves staying for a day or two extra, then, by all means do so.

Make sure that you accommodate shopping, sightseeing and of course night time expeditions in your little trip. Who knows? You might never have time to go back again!
