Nanochallenge and Polymerchallenge 2010 executive summary submission deadline expires on September 20, 2010. Participants in the international startup competition for business ideas based on nanotechnology and polymer-based materials breakthrough innovations and applications must register and submit the description of their start-up ideas before the deadline in September.
An annual event since 2005, the international nanotechnology Business Plan Contest aims to provide a real opportunity to researchers and scientists to receive seed investments to start a new high tech business. Nanochallenge has spawned hundreds of business plans, and winners and non-winners alike have gone on to implement their plans and start successful enterprises. Examples include Bilcare technologies, QID, Ananas Nanotech, Silvertech, ThunderNIL,, Nanto Paint, Chismatech, Hypucem, and Nice, among others.
Veneto Nanotech, the Italian Cluster of Nanotechnology, and IMAST, Italian Cluster for polymeric and composite materials and structures, will award for the 6th following year 600.00 euro to support researchers and scientists in the establishment of high tech start-ups.
To participate teams must register on line and submit the executive summaries by September 20, 2010. A first jury selects the finalist teams on the basis of the best technology and business ideas. Teams are then supported by Veneto Nanotech consultants to translate the technology and entrepreneurial idea into a feasible business plan during the mentoring phase. The final contest will be held at the University of Padova on 25 and 26 November 2010 when an international jury composed by scientists, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs will select the winners. After the start-up phase, winning teams become real ventures and are incubated inside Veneto Nanotech and IMAST high tech clusters.
