An Insight - Raiwind Ijtimah
Every year aMuslim convention is held here.This gathering lasts for 3 days and hundreds of thousands of people attend this religious gathering yearly. Presently the amir (principal) of Raiwind Center isHajji Abdul Wahab, and in India,Maulana Mohammed Sa'ad Kandhalvi, the great grandson of Maulana Muhammad Ilyas al-Kandhlawi. Beginning the year 2007, this congregation is being held twice a year in Pakistan.
Tablighi Jamaat originated in 1926 in north India and now expanded over 150countries all over the world. Tablighi Jamaat has largely avoided electronic media and has emphasized a personal communication for preaching. The teachings of Tablighi Jamaat are mainly focused on "SixPrinciples" put forward by Maulana Muhammad Ilyas. Maulana Muhammad Ilyas, the founder of Tablighi Jamaat, wanted to set forth a movement that would exemplify the Quranic decree of 'enjoining good and forbidding evil'. He initially strove to establish a network of mosque-based religious schools to educateMuslims about correct Islamic beliefs and practices. When setting the guidelines for the movement, he sought inspiration from the practices adopted by Prophet Muhammad (MPBH)at the dawn of Islam. The movement gained a phenomenal following in a relatively short period and nearly 25,000 people attended the annual conference in November 1941.
Most of the people believe Raiwind Ijtimah as a place of some holy significance or worship and relate it to the pilgrimage of Holy Kabba, which is entirely an incorrect and baseless interpretation. This Ijtimah is not a place for worship and nor can be related to Pilgrimage. The purpose of this Ijtimah is to unite Muslims all over the world, teach and educate them about the basics of Islam and prepare them to spread Islam all over the world as described by Maulana Muhammad Ilyas as "the mission of the prophets".
The Ijtimah also provides an outstanding platform to comprehend and listen to the spiritual and exceptional speeches of many renowned Muslim scholars including Hajji Abdul Wahab and Moulana Saad. Apart from these speeches, basics of Islamic teachings are taught through lectures by various Muslim scholars. In end "Jamaats" are formulated for preaching Islam inside the country and world wide in an organized and thoughtful manner, supervised by the top Ullema's of Raiwind. The Ijtimah provides great spiritual healing and motivation to all the Muslims, who can understands Islam in its true sense coupled with a will and urge to promote and spread it, according to the teachings of Prophet (MPUH). This mission is the responsibility of every Muslim, and Raiwind provides an admirable and meaningful platform for this great cause.
