How to Keep Working to Time When Snow Causes Road Chaos

Being self employed can be great. You're in control and when everything is going well, the satisfaction of being self employed and a good day's work done, mortgage paid, everyone fed and Christmas looming is such a good feeling. the problem arises when things dont go quite so well...

It can be like that whenyou open the curtains and stand back from the white winter wonderland outside: when several inches of snow has fallen overnightand all plans are thrown in to chaos!

Well, as dealing with a few snowflakes seems to bring on the road and transport havoc, with us Brits, it's like the country grinds to a halt. Hah,chaos reins supreme. Yourvan looks like an eskimo lodge and peeking out of the curtains, whilst trying not to shiver, itlooks like Siberia (hah, the Siberians get on with a normal day in worse conditions).

Well you travel and work plans for the day have to be abandoned. How can you go out to customers when theroads are impassable? There's no work today, that means no pay either - and yourcustomers not knowing if you are turning up when, how, if at all. Everyone is getting fed all rightfed up.

Sorry folks, hey ho, hey ho, it's off to no work we go - and if you're lucky things might have marginally improvedtomorrow.

Now, there is an answer to all this. Ifonlyyou had one of those handy job scheduling systems. You'd be able to see at a glance which of your jobs are due today and at what time, text your customers and subcontractors, let them know you're not going to make it or you'll be delayed. Or plan a different route: instantly see road blocks, diversions, jams and oh yes, erweather reports. You can keep work moving, keep communication lines open and everyone calm and happy, whilst having one less thing to worry about. If you want to know more, give me a call...and let's talk.
