Yes, it is alright to use controversy and I'll explain why.
I just wanted to write an article about this because it is important to follow a few basic rules when using controversy or humor in your articles. The answer to the question is, yes, its fine to use controversy in an article as it is quite powerful, as long as it's done with tact. I would never suggest coming right out in an article and accuse someone of being a scam artist. But if I did, the article directory would not likely turn down my article.
However, you can certainly jump on any controversy band wagon you so choose. It's also acceptable to go after any quiet sources that are saying negative things about your product. I love to find a product that I have confidence in, and then look for those who are calling it a scam, they're everywhere!
The best advice I have is to use what they are saying against them. Don't forget to show evidence to dispute those who are calling the product a scam. This is a great source of article titles! This helps you capitalize on the "scam" search traffic, and establishes you as an expert who can point to documented proof.
If you can show evidence that the product is useful/good/helping somebody that's going to stand up better than the rants of someone who has lived in their mother's basement for 35 years and has probably never even used the product!
