subject: Search Engine Marketing - True Substance In Content [print this page]

If you land on a web page that contains excess keyword stuffing, if you are like most people, you are immediately turned off. Some people have never learned that this is not only costing them page rank, it is complete garbage to read. All the reputable article publishing sites reject this type of writing for a reason.

Search engines are becoming more sophisticated all the time with ever improving algorithms, and they can pick up the nonsensical writings that are found all over the internet. Learning search engine marketing is essential to the success of any enterprise, and black (some still consider it gray) hat marketing attempts to stuff words is not the way to do it.

At one time, many writers not only stuffed keywords, they placed them in text that had absolutely nothing to do with the subject. Crawlers have almost completely weeded these out of any page ranking. The only time you might find one now in a search is if there is no other content available.

The act of cloaking keywords was once a practice in search engine marketing. This looked better to the reader, but the search engines would often only see a page with the same words listed over and over. This was one of the first types of content crawlers began to kick out. Anyone who still attempts this only hurts their business rather than helping it.

Spun articles, while not considered black hat techniques, are another atrocious blemish to the web when they are not edited properly. You have no doubt seen articles where phrases don't make sense or words appear in the wrong places, and as search engine marketing experts will advise, these will often be flagged as duplicate content.

Google and other search engines attempt to keep content up to quality standards, and it is recommended that you report any disreputable and unscrupulous activities that you find when you are surfing or doing research. People deserve to find information when they search the internet, not double talk and nonsense.

Your business will benefit by following search engine marketing white hat techniques and providing useful and usable content.
