Laudium is a township in Centurion, PretoriaLaudium is a township in Centurion, Pretoria. It was a settlement formed under the apartheid government as part of their segregation policy aimed at moving ethnic groups out of Marabastad and central Pretoria, which were being zoned as 'White Areas' around 1950. Laudium was proclaimed an Indian township in 1961. As for its former inhabitants, older aerial photographs still show remains of circular type dwellings to the west of Laudium

Laudium finds itself prided for its well known executive businessman, dynamic leaders in the media, exclusive luxury homes and smart cars. However, Laudium can boast about its unified community. Although there may be disputes about Laudium being a unified community, there exists many communities and events that bring the community together, furthermore the cultures and traditions that are custom to the average Indian bring upon a likeness and understanding that spurs an affinity and love for the community.

Laudium finds itself towards a path to a bright future, however, the major challenges that face Laudium are community segregation, space for expansion- creating distances, and last but not least crime. A series of crime events has brought about an awareness about safety and created fear. The community working together has developed various solutions to fight crime thus improving the standard of living conditions. Although there are various areas for improvement in Laudium, the community does pride itself having a voice in the media, yet the community must continue to strive together to work together, take an active part and ensure together a better Laudium for us all.

Laudium is a nice place to stop at when travelling. One could witness how Indians in South Africa live.
