Winter Park Toyota dealership marks Toyota's 10th year presenting Environmental Media Awards

Okay, I admit it; I had never heard of the Environmental Media Awards. Still, that doesn't lessen their importance, or change the fact that Toyota and Lexus have helped sponsor them for ten years running. Your Winter Park Toyota dealership is proud to be affiliated with a company that is environmentally conscious.

The awards honor television and film productions that promote or relay environmental messages in ways that are creative and have an impact. Films like Fantastic Mr. Fox and Avatar were nominated this year, as well as television shows like Castle, 30 Rock, The Biggest Loser, Handy Manny and The Simpsons. Not quite sure how that last one fits in, but haven't watched it for years, so what do I know.

Toyota has become rather legendary itself with the innovation and the popularity of the Prius Hybrid and the coming of the Prius Plug-in. Toyota executives expressed their appreciation towards the opportunity to be part of awards like this.

"At Toyota, we appreciate the Environmental Media Association's ability to influence millions through television, film, music and the entertainment community and inspire so many to take action," said Dian Ogilvie, senior vice president and secretary of Toyota Motor North America. "We are proud to sponsor the 20th Annual Environmental Media Awards and applaud the honored industry leaders who have taken extra strides to educate, influence and inspire environmentally responsible behavior on the screen and in their operations."

It's surprising that we didn't hear more about this given the media's obsession with all things green. It must have hit the wire during the Lohan crisis or been pushed out by excessive campaign ads. Winter Park used car customers can be sure that their dealer won't be distracted from finding them the best model at an affordable price.

The sponsorship also gave Toyota and Lexus the chance to showcase their hybrid lineup, which was featured at the ceremony in October at Warner Bros. Studios in California. Those attending got a peek at the Lexus CT 200h, the first-ever compact luxury hybrid. It will go on sale early next year.

Toyota also held a demonstration program for the Prius Plug-in Hybrid and had it on display. Some of the participants in the event were able to drive the new Plug-in before the ceremony. The rest of us will just have to wait our turn. Hopefully it will be in the Winter Park Toyota dealership showroom before long.

Toyota's other models are surprisingly fuel efficient, too, and Toyota has not only shown its commitment to making eco-friendly vehicles in the last few years, but has proven it will stand by its customers. Winter Park used car customers also can find great pre-owned deals that are fuel efficient.
