Remodeling your bathroom? Call a plumber
Remodeling your bathroom? Call a plumber

So my husband and I have decided to remodel our house one room at a time starting with the bathroom, as for me my bathroom is my sanctuary and I could not function any more in the old and ugly bathroom we had. Finding a plumber with a good reputation was the first thing on our to-do list. We contacted about four plumbers to have them check out the bathroom and give us quotes, before we settled for a plumber that had the best reputation and price- this is half the job already done. It is always important to get as many quotes as you possible can because plumbers fees can be very high and sometimes they also push up their prices as they see fit. As them to give you a fixed price for the entire job, before they start, this way there is no unnecessary surprises along the way.

Also keep in mind that plumbers do not just do the plumbing work but also the extraction of tiles, the retiling, and if need be the painting as well. Although this usually comes at an extra cost, find out all this before they start the job.

One of the first jobs that the plumber needed to do was to move the geyser into the roof. Our geyser before was fixed against the wall and was over the bath. Having a big metal drum hanging over the bath did not do much for the aesthetics of the room and was frankly quite an eye-sore. The moving of the geyser was not a major disruption, the only thing is that the plumber switched off the main water supply and let the geyser drain over night. The next morning the pipes were dismantled and the geyser removed and placed into the roof, and then the pipes needed to be re-directed and attached again. The plumbers did everything very quickly and before I knew it we were onto phase 2 of the remodeling job.

The plumbers had to take out our existing, bath, hand basin and toilet, and this was no small feat. They needed to disconnect the existing plumbing and the tiles needed to be chopped away to take out the bath, toilet and hand basin.

I never once had a problem with the plumbers, they were professional, and worked really quickly- which in itself is a blessing. The head plumber accompanied me when going shopping for new sanitary ware, and guided me all the way giving me tips on what would work better and the benefits of the different types of makes.

Once the sanitary ware was installed, and the new plumbing was connected. I had bought new tiles and they retiled the bathroom for me, and painted the walls as well. I will be honest in telling you that is cost us a pretty penny for the entire job, yet it was well worth it. Having the job done by a plumber that was dependable and got the job done quickly, saved us a lot of hassle and stress.
