Most people traveling to Pattaya opt to stay in a hotel. And why not, they have some great facilities. Air con, Satellite TV channels, DVD's, ample toiletries and fresh towels and linen each day. Swimming pools, room service, waiters at you beckon call. Compared to what you would pay in your own country you get rather a lot for your Buck! But even so, If you are a regular traveler to Pattaya as I am, this still can work out rather expensive.
Its time to save some serious money! Firstly I don't I don't have many of the things mentioned above in my home.. "not even a swimming pool" and despite paying all that money for such items, I have hardly felt the benefit, or lazed around a swimming pool all day. Pattaya's a fun city and should be explored.
Having decided that a swimming pool is a luxury you can do with out (the sea is never far away) It could be time to look at some of the Guest Houses or Rooms for rent in Pattaya. You will be pleasantly surprised! Rooms can be found from 450Bht per night. I agree they will be very basic but, when you way up the amount of time you spend in your room, Guest House or hotel, It' is very little. Merely a place to wash, change and sleep. All of the other things are just frills to attract you, frills that you may never fully appreciate.
With a little research you can find some real gems. A room above the Soi Chow Restaurant with Air con, 42" plasma TV, Tea and Coffee making facilities and in room safe is only 600Baht per day including water and electricity!!
The next time you are Pattayabound take a look at some of the smaller Guest Houses and businesses with rooms to rent. Have a look at the room and if it meets with your approval... Book it.
